Our vision is Appalachia unlocking its full potential, power and purpose.
Rediscover Appalachia focuses on creative place making and is the umbrella enterprise operating the West Edge Factory, Saws Edge Woodshop, and Betty and Joe’s Trout’s Hill Coffee.
The West Edge Factory is a 96,000 sq. ft. building formerly housed a clothing manufacturer and furnace foundry. Coalfield Development obtained the property in 2014 and is transforming it into a community hub for artisans and art-based businesses. It contains 20,000 sq. ft. of community meeting space and houses the Saws Edge Woodshop. It acts as a warehouse for reclaimed wood and architectural elements, a community theater, a solar installation learning center, an agricultural aggregation and distribution facility and has ample tenant space available.
The Saws Edge Woodshop designs and produces a variety of home décor items for wholesale and retail sales. Saws Edge also produces custom cabinetry and furnishings for the home and office.
Betty and Joe’s Trout’s Hill Coffee shop is located in Wayne, WV, and serves a variety of hot and cold drinks along with soups, sandwiches and pastries.
What Our Trainees Think About Us
"It's a great group of people. We're all here for the one goal of bettering ourselves. They are setting you up to succeed in life."
"They send you through college and help you out. It's like another family. Everybody does their job and works together."
"My main goal is to be able to make my own living doing what I like to do; in a place that I can raise my family and support myself at the same time. If you're thinking about signing up, don't wait."
